Sharahn Thomas is an expert in media production logistics. She’s currently NPR’s Senior Director of News Operations & Budget, handling the News Division’s global coordination as well managing the News Division's budget. Since she joined NPR in 1999, her team’s coverage of the September 11 attacks won a Peabody Award. She often coordinates coverage on location, including the Haiti earthquake, Hurricane Katrina, and federal elections and inaugurations. Her career began at WNJT (NJN), where she created and presented programs. A published photographer, Sharahn earned a BA in Mass Media Arts from Hampton University and assists teens through Delta Sigma Theta’s alumnae group and Northern Virginia Delta Educational and Community Service Foundation.
