Kayla Gertsema

Biography: Kayla Gertsema, MD is a dually board certified psychiatrist in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry practicing in Texas and Kansas. She is a graduate of the Univ. of Kansas School of Medicine where she received the award "Most Likely to Succeed in Psychiatry" amongst her peers. She earned her Bachelors of Science at the University of Miami where she studied biology, chemistry, and psychology and graduated with honors. Following medical school she completed her residency training at The University of Texas at Austin-Dell Medical School. Due to her passion for working with children and her desire to deepen her understanding of mental illness, she followed residency with a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, also at UT- Dell Medical School, where she served as chief resident. Dr. Gertsema loves to teach and has experience in academics as she earned a position as a staff psychiatrist and associate professor at the Univ. of Kansas Medical School.
