Julie Walsh
Julie Walsh ran Walsh Gallery in Chicago which specialized in Contemporary Asian Art in all mediums for 18 years. After she worked as an independent curator and in 2016 turned her research to immersive technologies.
Since then she has curated Digital Art both virtually and in person exhibitions for institutions and Digital Art festivals such as: (MEET Digital Culture Center in Milan), Recto VRso (Laval, France), and Mediantage (Munich). She has been a sought after key note, moderator of panels, workshop leader as well as curator lead, and interviewer and has lead curatorial art tours in social web based VR platforms. Her area of expertise is in Immersive Technologies and Art for film festivals/VR festivals world wide such as: VRDAYS (Amsterdam), Virtual Worlds (Munich), WISE (Berlin, Shanghai). She has lectured at SAIC (School of the Art Institute, Chicago), NYU and MEET Digital Culture Center (Milan), Innocult (created by the EU commission), Ars Electronica, and Recto VRso (Laval, France), SxSW (Austin) and Tezos at SxSW (Austin). In 2020 Ms. Walsh was the first commissioned curator to create a NFT exhibition for Feral File. Also in 2020 Ms.Walsh curated the grand opening exhibition for MEET Digital Culture Center (Milan) virtual exhibition space. She also spear headed their first virtual workshop series. Ms. Walsh is currently the art advisor/curator for Art Consortium,a Paris based company, that provides museums and galleries with a news standard to sell their art using F-NFT’s. She curates both virtual and physical exhibitions for Art Consortium’s partners.
