Susan McDermott is an Executive Editor at Apress (a Springer Nature company) who works with experienced and first-time authors to help them achieve their goal of getting published.

After spending her entire career working in book acquisitions, Susan knows how to recognize trends, shape ideas, and find the best person to author a topic for the intended audience.

Susan has signed and published more than 500 books for diverse professional communities. Working at Apress, Wiley, and Prentice Hall, she has managed such categories as information security, enterprise software, cloud/networking, nonprofit management, licensing and intellectual property, banking and financial technology, and more.

She is currently recruiting tech authors and acquiring books & videos in big data, cloud/networking, cybersecurity, and enterprise software categories.
