Taichi Manabe
Food Hub Project COO/RichSoil&Co COO/monosus inc. CDO
Born in Ehime, Japan 1977. After graduating from the University of Iowa, he worked in the advertisement industry as a design producer for 18 years in Tokyo. The year Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, Taichi helped organize “OPEN harvest” in Tokyo, a food project started with Jerome Waag former chef and his friends in Chez Pannise. It was a collective of California and Japanese chefs, farmers, artists, educators and activists as a way to explore issues around food and society. At that time, Japan was confronted with serious food safety issues and the project made him realize how fragile the modern food system is. The event also taught him the power of food. After the event, he started “Nomadic Kitchen” with Jerome Waag (RichSoil&Co. Head Chef) along with other chefs in Tokyo in 2012, creating a community for small food system. They organized varieties of food events with craft food makers throughout Japan. In March 2014, he moved to Kamiyama with his family. In April 2016, he started Food Hub Project.
