Jolien Van De Griendt

Jolien van de Griendt is a freelance journalist and entrepreneur with a great passion for innovative ways of storytelling. She worked as a reporter and editor for several regional and national broadcasters and newspapers in the Netherlands. In 2017 she co-founded Newschain, a startup in journalism to help media companies present their stories better on mobile and web. In 2018, she got funding for a freelance collective for research journalism, Spot on Stories. The collective aims to tell complicated research stories in new ways, so they find the audience they deserve.
Jolien specialised in Voice interfaces for news & media in 2017. She created the first Voice original content for news in the Netherlands for RTL Nieuws, the biggest commercial Dutch news broadcaster - designing, testing and implementing the format and getting together a new editorial audio team. She shares her learnings on voice design and strategy twice a week via Instagram (@smartvoicestories) and a WhatsApp service.
