Marie Morales

Originally from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Marie Morales brought her family to the States following the devastating 2010 earthquake. She wanted to engage her son, Angelo, in some constructive out-of-school activities in his new home in Brooklyn, so she visited her local YMCA in Flatbush. When they arrived, they heard a youth orchestra performing, and Angelo asked to join. She signed him up for violin lessons with the Harmony Program, and he was instantly hooked. She has supported Angelo's ongoing musical development over the past eight years, and he is now an accomplished violinist majoring in music at SUNY Purchase. His mother has played an important role in his discovery of music, his commitment to his studies, and to his many musical accomplishments.
