Ronke Olabisi
Ronke Olabisi is an assistant professor of biomedical engineering at Rutgers and a committee member on the National Academies of Sciences’ study session Promising Practices for Addressing the Underrepresentation of Women in STEM. Ronke’s research encompasses biomechanics, biomaterials, and tissue engineering to repair and generate tissues. Specifically, she develops biosynthetic materials, which combine synthetic and biologic materials for controlling cell and tissue function. Ronke has received numerous awards for her research, including a 2018 NSF CAREER award, a 2018 Rutgers’ TechAdvance Commercializing Innovative Technologies award, a 2019 Johnson & Johnson Women in STEM2D Scholars award, and a 2019 Biomedical Engineering Society Young Innovators Honor. She received her doctorate in biomedical engineering from University of Wisconsin, Madison and a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
