Octavia Chambers
Octavia Chambers, Director of Equity & Inclusion for the Portland Trail Blazers, is responsible for driving the company equity and inclusion efforts, which includes developing and managing strategy, as well as all staff training and education. Before joining the Trail Blazers, she worked for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a Public Health Advisor in Alaska and Oregon. In this role, she focused on advancing health equity, reducing disparities, and the implementation of trauma-informed approaches to service. In 2019, Octavia was named one of Sports Business Journal's "New Voices Under 30," as well as a fellow in the 2020 New Leaders Council. Octavia serves on faculty of the Sports and Entertainment Impact Certificate in partnership with Johns Hopkins University. Octavia also co-founded and currently serves as the Program Director for the Miss Juneteenth Oregon Program, she is also on the Board for Juneteenth Oregon. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering, writing, and spending time with family.
