Their work, which began on network television 20 years ago creating themes and music for network television (Entertainment Tonight, HBO, CBS This Morning, NFL Super Bowl, ESPN 30 for 30, FX Got the Movies), has evolved into pioneering a musical approach to sound design for products and brands in a connected world.
A 20-year veteran of music for media, Beckerman, is a known thought leader it the world of sound and business, author of The Sonic Boom: How Sound Transforms the Way We Think, Feel and Buy and a Fast Company Most Creative. Joel and the Man Made Music team have been featured on stage at major conferences including SXSW, London Design Week, C2 Montreal, Fast Company Innovation Festival, Future of Storytelling, as well as in major media including WSJ, Wired, AdWeek, Forbes and HBR. He has received the prestigious ASCAP Most Performed Themes Award ten years in a row, while his team has received twelve Promax Gold Muses and The Broadcast Design Association Pinnacle award. Beckerman has produced acclaimed television and brand soundtracks with legendary Hollywood composers such as John Williams (Star Wars), James Horner (Titanic) and Don Davis (The Matrix), and worked in partnership with distinguished performing artists such as John Legend, Ice-T, will.i.am, Moby, John Rzeznik, Neon Trees, OK Go, and actor Morgan Freeman.
