Let's Talk About Sex!

Date TBA

Sex

Many schools (and families) promote abstinence only and factually incorrect sex ed in lieu of a comprehensive and scientifically sound understanding of sexuality. These attitudes deny young people access to informed consent and healthy choices. As public health officials call for renewed prevention measures and increased funding for treatment programs, poor outcomes for racial minorities remain.
Healthy sexual practices can be authentically and honestly incorporated into storytelling. And yet, TV and film continue to make STDs/condom use a cheap, unfunny punchline.
Join two local advocates for a candid conversation where they explore how shallow and unrealistic images of sex and consent contribute to unsatisfactory and sometimes violent sexual experiences for the clients they serve.
