The nature of fame is undergoing massive change. With Hollywood 2.0, the explosion of influencers, and new social platforms like TikTok continually providing fresh outlets for creatives of all kinds, more “celebrities” are being minted almost daily. Yet the ability to monetize that name recognition remains limited for all but A-listers, leaving the long tail of talent doing great work with relatively little financial return. This session will discuss new social strategies that are enabling individual fans to directly connect with their favorite sports, arts and media personalities for a small fee, creating a new income stream for talent as well as a never-before-possible level of interaction that is transforming the celebrity-fan relationship.
