Black Movement in Digital Spaces
As we move into a world with emphasis on diversity and inclusion, how can advertising agencies make sure they are fairly crediting, honoring, and celebrating the communities they represent? In this session, we will look at this question in relation to Black movement in performance, and how it is exploited using capturing technologies. What does it mean to ethically digitize Black movement? How do we protect data that is collected, while serving and celebrating the community? The Black Movement Project(BMP) is a library to create diverse XR projects, a space to research how and why we move, and an archive of Black existence. BMP seeks to not only archive movement, but to create community through the use of extended reality, performances, workshops, conversations and tool making.
