Celebrities, Brands, and Cancel Culture

What is accepted culturally changes over time. There was a time when segregation was widely accepted, women couldn’t vote, and mass media communicated in dog-whistle terms that enraged specific groups of people. Well, some things remain the same. Much of how we communicated as a culture in previous generations hasn’t necessarily aged well but those instances were once greeted with grace for context. Today, celebrities and brands can endure intense scrutiny based on what was said or done in some cases decades ago. Welcome to the world of cancel culture. Join us as we evaluate cancel culture and whether or not it is real, appropriate, is it here to stay, and how companies and individuals can navigate social media to ensure they don’t end up on the canceling block.
