Politics, Policy, Personalities & Women

Please be aware that cannabis and related laws vary. Programming in this track is designed to inform attendees about this fast-changing industry, and does not promote the use or sale of illegal drugs.

With 67% of Americans in support of full legalization and 91% in support of access to medical cannabis, the will of our country demands that Congress end federal prohibition and change its current cannabis policy. Despite cannabis’ current status as a federally illegal substance, 33 States have enacted comprehensive programs for medical cannabis and 11 states have passed full adult consumption laws.

Reconciling federal law so that it no longer conflicts with the will of the states and the will of the people is a number one priority for cannabis industry stakeholders and businesses. And the role of advocates and lobbyists has never been more important to navigate Congress, and to successfully change the hearts and minds of law and policy makers to advance and enact cannabis reform.

This discussion seeks to highlight the current landscape that cannabis industry advocates are facing for federal reform, and share insight in how women - in particular - have set the agenda and are leading the discussion to ensure patients’ access, consumer safety and business viability throughout the industry.
