This AI Space Robot Fixes Problems by Listening
Making its maiden voyage to the International Space Station (ISS) in late 2019, SoundSee technology uses machine learning to analyze sounds, improve operations and diagnose potential equipment issues on the ISS. SoundSee is currently riding on NASA’s Astrobee Robot, an autonomous free-flying bot floating through the ISS “listening” for mechanical issues by analyzing audio data. Starting in early 2020, audio data will be delivered to a ground control facility configured to meet NASA specifications built into the Bosch Research Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Sam Das, Principal Scientist, Senior Research Manager from Bosch will discuss their innovative partnership, the challenges in sending the invention into space and how this unique implementation of AI can have additional applications on Earth.
