This AI Space Robot Fixes Problems by Listening

Speakers

SoundSee technology uses machine learning to analyze sounds, and it will launch into space in 2019 to help improve operations and diagnose potential equipment issues on the International Space Station (ISS). The space-bound SoundSee module will ride on NASA’s Astrobee Robot, an autonomous free-flying bot that will float through the ISS and "listen" for mechanical issues by analyzing audio data. Bosch, Astrobotic Technology Inc., and NASA played key roles in the solution's development. Sam Das, Principal Scientist, Senior Research Manager from Bosch will discuss their innovative partnership, the challenges in sending the invention into space and how this unique implementation of AI can have additional applications on earth.
