Subverting Narrative: Artmaking with the Audience

What do folk lullabies and hugs, dark cinematic multiscreen projections and body positive workouts have in common? Come to Subverting Narrative: Artmaking with the Audience and find out! Three strong women, all performing artists from Austin, discuss the importance of interactivity to their processes. Hailing from disparate arenas and mediums, the panel will examine the way we use audience response and participation to affect the way we present and experience our work. Performing for an audience creates a temporary community that shapes the work through an organic exchange of responses. We will discuss our various projects and how this approach can break down barriers of accessibility to the arts. We will brainstorm new ideas that challenge traditional storytelling and host a brief Q&A.
