Dealing with Real-World Problems in XR

Across the globe, experiments are underway to deal with issues like racism, gun violence, and police-citizen interactions using virtual reality, augmented reality and related technologies. What are the key considerations when designing XR experiences for real-world social impact? What are the ethical and narrative challenges researchers, entrepreneurs and artists grapple with in these new media? And what can these applications teach us about the powerful potential of XR technology, and the risks we need to manage as technology grows? In this panel, three experts leading research projects at the intersection of XR and social justice will share what they’ve learned, what they’re excited about, and what keeps them up at night.
