Indigenous Rising: Our Role As Allies

Based on experience from “Tribes on the Edge” Céline Cousteau leads a discussion on what it means to be a true ally to indigenous causes and moving beyond film to action. The intimate panel will be composed of Céline and Beto of the Marúbo tribe in the Brazilian Amazon. Céline, drawing on knowledge acquired through nearly a decade long commitment to the Indigenous Peoples of the Vale do Javari, and Beto as an Indigenous leader, will discuss the power of storytelling, the sacrifices you make and what it means to be non-indigenous filmmaker. Ultimately, this panel will question if as filmmakers are we entitled to tell someone else's story and if so how?
