Is the Real AI Advantage On or Off the Field?
All sports franchises are feeling the seductive pull of artificial intelligence (AI), and seeing the value of analytics. The most well-known applications of analytics in sports can be compared to “Moneyball 2.0,” with technology’s ability to do multivariate analysis taking sabermetrics into exciting territory. For example, customized ML models can learn from large datasets over a specific athlete and offer real-time advice to help improve speed, situational awareness, and other crucial skills needed for a competitive advantage. Commercial uses of AI are relatively nascent and unknown hold great promise for the businesses. This expert panel will explore operational and commercial uses of AI and analytics, new use cases in football, and debate where the most value for analytics exists.
