The prolific science fiction author, Isaac Asimov was quoted as saying, “….the core of science fiction, its essence, the concept around which it revolves, has become crucial to our salvation... if we are to be saved at all.”
Science fiction isn’t so much a predictor as it is a blueprint — it inspires creators to build the world they want. Whether it's building technologies straight out of Snow Crash and Star Trek, to preventing more dystopian futures like 1984, many technologies that have been built or that are being built have their roots in science fiction. In this talk we will delve into specific ideas from great works of science fiction and talk about how it continues to inspire the creators of tomorrow.
