Kobi Jonz
With two songs from his new EP ringing at #1 on the iTunes Top 100 charts in countries like Belgium and Dominican Republic, AfroPop Artist, Daniel Okobi popularly known as ‘Kobi Jonz’ has no plans of slowing down.
Now based in the United States, Kobi was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria where his music interest and career were cultivated. Kobi’s sound matches his origins – full of life, spirit and an enigmatic energy that keeps you coming back for more. With influences like Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, Sade Adu and Burna Boy, Kobi’s music brings out in his listeners a vigor that can only be described as lust for life, wrapped in a zesty hip vibe that is fresh and genre-defying.
Kobi’s approach to a blooming genre has garnered him attention from not only his growing fan base but successful African artists and organizations. On top of his increasing 5 million global streams, his list of achievements include a single titled 'Paddle' featuring Nigeria’s top star, Falz; as well as being selected by Audiomack to perform at Afrochella 2019 in Ghana.
He sees music as a way to spread the word that self-sufficiency in pursuit of one's dreams is possible – hence the motto, "wake them up."
