Mamalarky
Mamalarky is down to water your houseplants while you're out of town and let you win at Smash Bros when you’re having a bad day. Mamalarky could very well be the cure for depression or the cause of universal sadness. Mamalarky is a campfire song for American Idol rejects and an encouraging soundtrack for the months after your next breakup. They are exactly what you would expect to see in an increasingly sentient robot's dream journal.
Mamalarky started in Austin, TX and now resides in Los Angeles. The band combines doe-eyed vocal melodies, cerebral jazz keys, dynamic finger-picked guitar, ebullient bass lines, and hard hitting drums to create an intoxicating elixir, entirely their own.
Their upcoming single, 'Fury,' is a newer approach for the group, favoring unwieldy guitars and sneering synth lines in contrast to the band’s dreamier repertoire. ‘Fury, to me, is about feeling overdriven and overworked, and the humor in finding your way as a young adult,’ front-woman Livvy Bennett explains. ‘It was probably the fastest I ever wrote a song and it instantly felt very right playing it as a group.’ The band is currently working on their first full-length to be released summer 2020.
