GRAMMY Award Winner, Two-Time EMMY Nominee, WAMMIE Award Winner- Dom Flemons is originally from Phoenix, AZ, currently lives in the Washington, D.C. area. Known as “The American Songster” for his repertoire of music with over 100 years of American folklore, ballads and tunes. Flemons is a music scholar, historian, and a multi-instrumentalist. He is considered an expert player on the Banjo, Fife, Guitar, Harmonica, Percussion, Quills and Rhythm Bones.

In 2018, Flemons released a solo album, “Black Cowboys” on record label Smithsonian Folkways, receiving a Grammy Nomination for Best Folk Album, Blues Music Award nomination for Best Acoustic Blues Album, and had elements included n the Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit “American Currents.” The album peaked at #4 on the BILLBOARD Bluegrass Charts.

Dom appears in Golden Globe nominated film “The Great Debaters” executive produced by Oprah Winfrey, starring Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker.

Flemons co-founded the Carolina Chocolate Drops who won a GRAMMY for Best Traditional Folk Album in 2010. He left the group to pursue his solo career in 2014. In 2016 the group were inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame.
