Larry W. Jones is a seasoned technology media executive with vast multiplatform management, branding and creative experience in developing and producing linear/digital content in addition to VR and AR creative.
Jones is the CEO of Blackthorn Media, a partnership of Academy Award winning VFX masters who are focused on creating original storytelling IP for the VR/AR ecosystem. Blackthorn is producing content at the highest levels the technology allows working with leading gaming engines to create 6dof content. Blackthorn Media has garnered critical acclaim from the Tribeca and Sundance Film Festivals and is distributed in hundreds of location based entertainment centers worldwide.
Prior to joining Blackthorn Media, Jones managed a highly profitable division of Viacom. As President of TV Land (Viacom) Jones has 20+ years of experience managing all areas of the entertainment business including the acquisition and creation of premium content for linear and digital platforms, marketing, branding, press, programing and the development/production of multi-cam and single camera sitcom series and annual tent pole events. At Viacom, Jones was responsible for an annual expense budget of nearly $250M and built revenues to over of a half billion dollars.
As the head of TV Land productions Jones was the Executive Producer of over 400 sitcom episodes and countless hour-long specials, most with international distribution through a partnership negotiated with Endemol. Under Jones’ leadership, original productions garnered numerous awards, including Emmys, Screen Actors Guild and People’s Choice Awards. Jones brought YOUNGER, HOT IN CLEVELAND and TEACHERS to the network in addition to many others over his tenure.
