Maria Miller

Maria Miller is Co-founder and COO of Spot, the first short-term life and accident insurance company in the US, based in Austin, Texas. She oversees all operations for the insurtech startup, leading strategic revenue growth, product, platform development, and carrier partnerships while integrating the brand’s mission of redefining the insurance experience into every customer touchpoint within the business.

Prior to founding Spot, Maria served as VP of Technology Strategic Partnerships at New York Life, one of the largest life insurance companies in the US. There she was one of the youngest female executives, leading technology vendor sourcing and relationship strategy for the company. It was during her time at NYL that Maria determined there was a need to reimagine how life insurance is underwritten and distributed especially for the underserved, hence the idea for Spot was born.

Maria has developed a wealth of industry and global market experience, starting her career at Anderson Consulting and living and working throughout Europe, Asia, and the US.

Maria holds a BA in Business Administration, Finance and Information Systems from The University of Washington. In her spare time, Maria travels attempting to see as much of the world as possible.
