Tina Owens is Sr. Director, Agriculture for Danone North America and has worked in supply chain for 18 years, holding an MBA from Spring Arbor University in Michigan. In 2018 she joined Danone in the position of Sr. Director Agriculture, overseeing the work on Soil Health and embedding Regenerative Agriculture practices within the supply chain. Prior to Danone Tina led sustainability and strategic sourcing at Kashi Company including the brands Bear Naked, Stretch Island Fruit Company, and Pure Organics. During her tenure at Kashi Tina led the charge on six commodities to convert farmers to organic practices via a collaborative effort with QAI known as the Certified Transitional protocol. Under Tina’s leadership this ground-breaking protocol helped convert over 7,000 U.S. acres to organic while returning close to $2MM in additional profit to Kashi farmers. Tina achieved the first round of Non-GMO Project Verified products for Kashi and continued to support the Non-GMO Project Renovation work for the full Kashi portfolio. She also led responsible sourcing programs related to honeybee health, cocoa, wheat and oats. Tina is a media trained brand spokesperson who is passionate about the business of doing good and Danone’s mission of One Planet One Health. She lives on 12 acres in Michigan with her husband and son. In 2019 Tina’s family will begin growing their own food using regenerative practices.
