André D’Elia is a brazilian film-maker, director and producer of The Water Law ( A Lei da Água, Novo Código Florestal, 2015) and Belo Monte: Announcement of a War (Belo Monto, Anúncio de uma Guerra 2012) which has been screened and different film festivals from all over the and got famous for being the most pledged film in a brazilian crowdfunding platform. At his independet producer, Cinedelis, focused on social and ambiental causes, André kickstarted the social-enviromental activism film genre, now known as “cinema pedrada” (Stone throw cinema). Has also directed the Google Project “I Am Amazon”, produced by O2 Filmes, and episodes for the doc-reality “Tough Job” for Discovery Brasil. Responsible for three short films released on the internet as an awareness campaign, they are: Native Rights (Direitos Indígenas), “MOB. Nacional Indígena” and “PEC 215 – Knot in the Throat (Nó na Garganta)”, among others campaings in defense of the enviroment and native people. In 2017, directed the acclaimed “Demarcation Now!” (Demarcação Já!) with 25 of the biggest brazilian artists (names like Elza Soares, Arnaldo Antunes, Maria Bethânia, Gilbero Gil, Ney Matogrosso e Lenine), which the communication campaign realised in partnership with Greenpeace Brasil and APIB (Articulação dos Povos Indígenas do Brasil (Native Brazilian People Articulation) reached 6 million people, becoming the biggest campaign in defense of the native people in history! In 2018, André released his third feature filme Old Lord Savanna (Ser Tão Velho Cerrado), winning of the audience’s choice award at Eco Falante Enviromental Film Festival, and is now struggling to release the controversial The King’s Friend (O Amigo do Rei), a feature filme about politics and mining.
