Cordell Schachter
Cordell Schachter is the Chief Technology Officer/CIO for the New York City Department of Transportation. He leads its IT & Telecom organization and department-wide initiatives to innovate safety, mobility, smart and accessible infrastructure, software development, mapping, communications, public data, and customer support. IT & Telecom is frequently recognized for excellence in helping make New York City Safer, Faster, and Smarter. Schachter tames high-risk, high-value projects and leads service management to deliver high customer satisfaction. He was named among the Top 25 Doers, Dreamers, and Drivers for 2018 by Government Technology magazine.
Schachter is a certified project manager by the Project Management Institute and IBM. He holds an MS in Management from NYU's Wagner School of Public Service, and a BA in Economics from the State University of New York Buffalo. He serves on the board of directors of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America and is a member of its autonomous vehicle and cybersecurity task forces. He teaches "Foundation Technology for Innovation" as an adjunct Associate Professor at NYU’s Center for Urban Science + Progress and was a lecturer at Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City.
