Mayuran Tiruchelvam
Mayuran Tiruchelvam is a screenwriter and producer of fiction and non-fiction stories for film and television. He is a Sundance Institute Creative Producing Fellow and Film Independent Fellow. His filmmaking is fueled by a vision for a more compassionate and openhearted world.
He produced the documentaries TO BE TAKEI (Sundance 2014) and THE UNTOLD TALES OF ARMISTEAD MAUPIN (SXSW Audience Award 2017) and the fiction films MY FIRST KISS AND THE PEOPLE INVOLVED (LA FILM FEST 2016) and THE MEND (SXSW 2014).
He is currently an adjunct professor at Columbia University’s Graduate Film Program. From 2015-2016 he was the Artist in Residence at Sacred Heart University’s Masters of Film and Television program.
His feature screenwriting and co-producing debut, neo-noir THE GIRL IS IN TROUBLE, executive produced by Spike Lee, was released by eOne in April 2015 and a critic’s pick from the Village Voice and RogerEbert.com
