Hannah Le
Hannah is an 18-year-old genetic engineering researcher and machine learning enthusiast who is simulating bacteria to precisely target and kill cancer cells. Throughout her journey, she has employed the CRISPR-Cas system to double the lifespan of fruit flies, which may also be used to improve human health and lifespan. Inspired by her deaf cousin, Hannah moved from Vietnam to Canada at age 16 and later joined the Waldman Lab to work with a postdoctoral student to engineer an artificial ear cartilage from mesenchymal stem cells. Over the past year, Hannah is being recognized by major media organizations and companies like Microsoft to share her work more broadly. She is also a huge advocate for women in technology, and is always inspiring young ladies to pursue sciences and technology.
