Business Data Leadership

Theresa Kushner has been in the data business for over 20 years. She thrust herself into the data world in IBM marketing when she couldn’t secure the data she needed for effective communication to small and medium businesses in Europe. That led her to create data sources for IBM and then Cisco Systems. Each of those engagements gave her a solid view of what data is needed for marketing positioning, analysis and performance evaluation. Her experience gave birth in 2008 to a book, Managing Your Business Data: From Chaos to Confidence, co-authored with her IT counterpart at IBM, Maria Villar. She followed this book with another co-written with Ruth Stevens in 2015, B2B Data-driven Marketing: Sources, Uses, Results.

In 2012, she joined VMware to create a data organization that led master data, business intelligence and advanced analytics across the company. She created the Information Innovation Center for VMware and in 2016 took that concept to Dell. Late last year, she re-launched her consulting business – Business Data Leadership and is presently updating her first book for the new world of data management. She hopes to have it available on Amazon by year end.

Theresa is actively involved with supporting women in their careers and is helping to launch a new group called HiPower for senior executive women in Austin this year. She also serves on the Advisory Board to the Mayborn School of Journalism at University of North Texas where she is an alumna.
