Lucas Jackson

As a Reuters Senior Photographer based in New York, Lucas Jackson has covered national news events ranging from the Academy Awards, the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, the U.S. Navy in the Arctic, and the 2016 Presidential Election. Jackson has travelled internationally to cover wars in both Afghanistan and Iraq, the eruption of Icelandic volcanoes, climate change in Greenland, and the 2014 Sochi Olympics. Lucas grew up on a remote cattle ranch near Quemado, NM with his parents and three siblings. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR followed by working several years as a commercial salmon fisherman in Alaska before beginning his career in journalism. Jackson has been awarded awards from several industry leaders including Best of Photojournalism, Pictures of the Year International, Prix de la Photographie, New York Press Photographers Association, and China International Press Photography.
