Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC)

Christine Bannan is Consumer Protection Counsel at the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC), in Washington, DC. She writes comments and complaints to the Federal Trade Commission, the Federal Communications Commission, and other agencies to help protect the privacy of consumers and Internet users. Ms. Bannan has testified on behalf of EPIC before the Federal Election Commission about transparency requirements for online campaign ads. She also runs the monthly Privacy Coalition meetings that bring together representatives of civil society with key Washington decision makers in the privacy field. She first joined EPIC as the Administrative Law and Policy Fellow and during law school she completed internships at the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), the Wikimedia Foundation, and the U.S. Copyright Office. Ms. Bannan is a graduate of Notre Dame Law School and the College of the Holy Cross, where she earned a B.A. in Classics. She is a member of the Massachusetts bar and a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).
