Sima Cunningham
Sima Cunningham is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has been a staple of the Chicago music scene for over 10 years. She also works for Pluto Arts, the event production company and presenter of Pitchfork Music Festival. She recorded her first record, Squeeze, in 2005 at the age of 15. In high school, she co-founded The Audians, which release Aliens and Friends in 2008. In 2010 she released a full-length record, Time in Never Your Friend. In 2014, she recorded and released an EP, the wolf that eats the sheep, with celebrated Chicago musicians Dorian Gehring, Lane Beckstrom, Charles Rumback and Liam Kazar. She co-founded the Chicago-based Avant-rock band, OHMME, in 2014. In 2015, she joined the touring outfit of Tweedy as a vocalist and has participated in tours in the US, Japan, and Australia. Sima has performed and recorded extensively with a host of world-class artists including Jeff Tweedy, Richard Thompson, Chance the Rapper, Twin Peaks, Paul Dempsey, V.V. Lightbody, Daniel Knox, Kelly Hogan, Nora O'Connor, and more. Cunningham also works as a music presenter. She hosts and curates a monthly singer-songwriter focused series called I Hear Voices at Chicago’s premiere venue for improvised and groundbreaking music, Constellation. For the past 10 summers, she has organized a small music and art festival, Postock, on a farm in Southern Wisconsin. She co-owns and manages a recording studio, Fox Hall, where she is currently working on her new record with Chicago producer and engineer, Dorian Gehring. OHMME’s full length debut is due out in 2018.
