Born and raised in Virginia, Andreas had humble beginnings growing up in rural northwest Virginia. He grew up watching the world change which sparked his interest to study Political Science at Virginia Tech where he worked his way through college to support his education. Upon graduation, he moved to Richmond, Virginia to start his career as a public servant. He was hired in City Hall as a Management Analyst for the Dept. of Budget in 2008. Over the next eight years, Andreas turned this routine role into a national innovation leader as he won and led projects with IBM Smarter Cities, Code for America, and a Fuse Corps fellowship developing civic technology solutions to social challenges. His work got him invited to speak national conferences to share his experience on how to build equity and inclusion through innovation.
Civic Innovator LLC, formed in 2016, has worked with two Rockefeller Foundation 100 Resilient Cities, City of Warsaw Poland, and the European Funders Council.
