Battleground Texas

Oscar Silva is a native Texan and the Executive Director for Battleground Texas, the largest grassroots organization working to turn Texas into a battleground state by treating it like one. Before returning to Texas in 2012, Oscar led the Latino vote efforts in North Carolina for Organizing for America – President Obama’s reelection campaign. He is often a guest speaker at events with topics around organizing, communities of color, and the process of winning in Texas by expanding the electorate in a way that reflects the diversity of the state.
At the core of Oscar’s focus are LatinX organizing and engaging diverse constituency groups — students, women, faith-based, and LGBTQ+. He holds a BBA in Economics, a BBA in International Business, and a BS in Public Administration from Baylor University. Sic ‘em Bears!
Oscar has 7 years of experience working in local, state and national political campaigns. Before returning to Battleground Texas in 2015, he was the Director of Binational Affairs, Community Affairs, and Media Relations for Texas State Senate District 29, widely spread along the Texas-Mexico border.
