Samantha Lewis
Samantha Lewis, Rice MBA ’17, is the Executive Director and Venture Associate of the GOOSE Society of Texas – a super angel investment group focused on early-stage technology ventures. Before attending Rice Business school, she successfully started two ventures, one of which she recently sold. The other company, New Mexico Green Chile Co, generates over $3 million in annual revenue and boasts of customers like Torchy’s Tacos, HEB, and Trader Joe’s.
The GOOSE Society of Texas has invested over $45 million in start-ups and has had 5 successful exits. The group invests around $10 million per year across a variety of industries with a focus on breakthrough, defendable technologies. Her responsibilities include portfolio management and company assessments, due diligence, deal sourcing, and operations.
During her time at Rice Business, she helped launch two tech start-ups, worked with a start-up private equity firm, and interned at Station Houston. Samantha pitched at five business plan competitions including the Rice Business Plan Competition and the Rice Launch Competition where her start-up, Trace Matters, won the $10,000 first place prize for their lab-grade, portable chemical analyzer.
She received the Texas Business Hall of Fame Scholarship, the National Association of Women MBA’s Scholarship, and the Jones Citizen Award. Her peers elected her as Alumni Class Ambassador for the full-time Class of 2017. Her favorite position at Rice, though, was as President of the Rice Business Wine Club where she launched the inaugural Rice Business Wine Tasting Competition.
Samantha received her undergraduate degree in political science and history with a concentration in European Union politics from Texas A&M University.
