John Sepetys
Fusing 30 years of music business experience with his sharp creative instincts and unwavering enthusiasm, John Sepetys shines in his ability to consistently source and develop exceptional songs, artists and writers for any opportunity.
Sepetys joined North Star Media in Nov, 2012. As their Senior VP of A&R, he assists and consults artists through all stages of the creative process, while staying forever on the hunt for exciting new talent. John also places music in film, tv, ads, and video games.
Prior to joining NSM, Sepetys led the A&R efforts for Banshee Music, a division of GMR Marketing. While with Banshee, Sepetys directed song creation and talent selection for NFL Official Gameday Music. He also coordinated the recording and launch of Pop Evil's "In The Big House" for University of Michigan.
From 1994 - 2001, Sepetys played lead guitar for Spitfire/Eagle Rock recording artist Hair Of The Dog. The LA-based group released two albums worldwide, received national airplay, and toured extensively as a support act for an array of hair metal superstars. Following his departure from the band, Sepetys relocated to Nashville, where he spent nine years working in music management and publishing. During this time period he worked closely with such artists as Steve Vai, Lit, Eric Church, Eric Sardinas, and legendary songwriter/producer Desmond Child. Sepetys has also served as a contributing columnist for Guitar Edge Magazine, as well as, a mentor for songwriting majors at Belmont University in Nashville, TN.
John Sepetys graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Michigan in 1988 with a BA in Communications and a minor in Music. He then pursued his advanced studies in music at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA. John currently resides in the Detroit area and works out of North Star Media's main office in Bloomfield Hills, MI.
