Shelley Gretlein
As Vice President of Global Marketing at National Instruments, Shelley Gretlein is responsible for inspiring, educating, and empowering engineers and scientists around the globe by promoting the significant differentiation of NI’s software-defined platform. Starting as an NI applications engineer provided her key insights into customer needs, challenges, and opportunities. Following that role, Gretlein spent nearly 15 years leading the development, product strategy, and product marketing of the NI software platform and more recently has taken on the executive role in global marketing to ensure the software-defined platform benefits are understood through brand management, strategic communications, and optimized marketing capabilities from user experience to content to design.
Gretlein has been involved in industry consortia on robotics and industrial control, test leadership forums, embedded advisory boards, and Internet of Things technology. She has a passion for empowering future engineers and is active in Girlstart, FIRST Robotics, and other STEM-related groups. Gretlein is also an active board member for Austin Police Operation Blue Santa, which helps more than 25,000 families in the Austin community.
She holds a dual bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering management with minors in French and mathematics from Missouri University of Science and Technology. She has also completed several executive education courses from L’Université de Lyon, the University of Texas, the University of California at Berkeley, and the Kellogg School of Management.
