Nina Vizcarrondo
Director/editor Nina Vizcarrondo has worked in the film industry for 10 years and specializes in non-fiction storytelling. She has been hooked on filmmaking since she went Guatemala to conduct research for an undergraduate anthropology thesis, but spent most of her time filming what became the short doc, Maiz. And she has continued to focus on Latin American and immigration issues since then. She has been actively involved with the Austin Sanctuary Network and is documenting some of their courageous and compassionate story.
As an editor, Nina most recently cut several short documentaries for filmmaker Ben Masters, and did additional editing on his feature "The River and the Wall," which is premiering at SXSW 2019. She also worked as an assistant editor and associate producer on "Building the American" dream which is also premiering at SXSW 2019. Previously, she worked extensively on two Sundance documentaries, including "Richard Linklater: Dream is Destiny," and was an assistant for Linklater's editor, Sandra Adair. Nina holds an MFA from UT Austin, where she directed and edited various narrative and documentary shorts.
