Katharine Schlesinger

Katie Schlesinger enjoys examining data in new, creative ways to determine the underpinnings of trends and behaviors. As a Principal Data Scientist for Capital One, she creates models to help customers become more financially healthy. Collaborating with partners in Design, Research, and Engineering, she loves developing customer-facing products, taking them from a problem statement to a valued experience that truly serves a need. Prior to Capital One, Katie was a postdoctoral researcher in Astrophysics, where her research applied statistical analyses and machine learning techniques to large data-sets to identify stars with peculiar chemistry or movement in the Milky Way. Katie is an aspiring handy-woman, an avid podcast listener, and an accident-prone but enthusiastic soccer player.
