Robyn Barnard
Originally from South Africa, Robyn has lived in Asia, Europe, Australia, and the US. In her current role at Human Rights First, Robyn provides support to volunteer lawyers from law firms who represent asylum seekers at all levels of the immigration and court system. She also provides information and legal representation to asylum seekers in immigration detention across the country. Prior to this role, she was an attorney in New York with Human Rights First, where she set up a pro-bono legal team for detained families. Before that, Robyn was staff attorney at the Center for Gender and Refugee Studies at UC Hastings School of Law, and a CV Starr Law Lecturer at Peking University’s School of Transnational Law in China where she taught Chinese JD students in topics such as International Refugee Law, and was a volunteer at the Asylum Seeker Resource Center in Australia, a non-profit providing free legal representation to asylum seekers in Australia.
