Dr. Harold Fernandez
Born in a poor neighborhood in Medellin, Colombia, Dr. Fernandez was smuggled into the United States as a child and grew up an undocumented immigrant. Obtaining a fake Social Security number, he was able to gain admission to Princeton University, where he excelled. After sorting his immigration status with the help of his professors and several lawmakers, he attended Harvard Medical School and embarked on a successful career as a surgeon. He is currently the chief of cardiovascular surgery at Northwell Health, as well as an author of a memoir, Undocumented, and a frequent speaker and writer about immigration issues.
