Landy Watley
Silence is deadly, so I choose to live out loud. I told myself this four years ago, when I stepped foot on Howard University's campus, and I haven't shut up since. Through my studies in African American literature and expressive culture, African American rhetorical and oratorical traditions, gender studies, and hip hop studies, I read, I write, and I speak about people whose stories aren't told nearly enough. No matter what I do or where I go, I always remind others (and myself) that words are power. That's why, in 2017, I co-founded Brown Girl Squad, a non-profit dedicated to helping young girls rethink reading, writing, and speaking as proclamations of self-affirmation that not only serve their professional interest but their personal growth as well. Our mission is to help the next generation of young women transform their PASSION into PURPOSE and POWER.
I am so excited to be apart of SXSW 2019 and I can't wait to connect with you!
