Taylor Pendergrass
Taylor Pendergrass is Senior Campaign Strategist for the ACLU's Campaign for Smart Justice. Prior to that he was senior staff attorney with the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU), before which he worked as a staff attorney with the ACLU of Colorado. He focuses on litigation and advocacy related to criminal justice reform. Mr. Pendergrass has co-authored a human rights report on the use of solitary confinement in New York prisons, filed complaints regarding such solitary confinement with international human rights bodies, and was lead counsel in a class-action lawsuit that recently resulted in a settlement overhauling solitary confinement in the country's fourth-largest prison system. He is a graduate of Duke University and the University of Colorado School of Law. He is the co-editor, with Mateo Hoke, of the recently published book "Six by Ten: Stories from Solitary Confinement," a collection of first-person stories from solitary confinement survivors and their families.
