Shanna Lockwood

Ever since making the leap to sports media from technical writing in 2013, USA TODAY Sports Images digital media manager Shanna Lockwood has been a member of the editing team behind USA TODAY’s photo coverage for three Olympics, three Super Bowls, and four Final Fours. Though only five years into her sports media career, she has already experienced and adapted to the ever-increasing expectation for speed borne of technological advances in the industry. As a gatekeeper for USA TODAY’s visual narrative for some of the largest events in sports, Lockwood is mindful of the current and future expectations for live photo coverage—especially how advances in photography, including drones and remote-controlled DSLRs, will impact photo editors parsing through photos from fresh perspectives not previously possible in deadline publication.
