Stanford University Community-Based Research Fellow
Catalyzing Courage

Lauren is a junior at Stanford University majoring in American Studies with a Screenwriting concentration. She is a research fellow at Stanford and spent this past summer working with The Geena Davis Institute on Gender and Media. Lauren's research project, titled “Catalyzing Courage”, dives deep into how the “me too” movement impacted the industry and the best ways we can build off of that momentum. As a fellow, Lauren has taken several classes at Stanford on community-based methodologies and how best to conduct qualitative research while confronting issues of positionality. She comes from a strong background of being passionate about women's issues including her role as a mentor for the women’s leadership initiative on campus, a volunteer at the Stanford Office of Sexual Assault and Relationship Abuse, and the founder of the project Embrace. She also grew up dancing pre-professionally and ran a program teaching dance lessons to elementary school students in low-income districts.
