Edward Ellison
Edward M. Ellison, MD, is co-CEO of The Permanente Federation, a consortium of eight Permanente Medical Groups across the nation, supporting the work of more than 22,000 Permanente physicians who deliver care to the more than 12 million members of Kaiser Permanente. In addition, he is executive medical director and chairman of the board for the Southern California Permanente Medical Group, one of the largest self-governing medical groups in the country, and serves as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of The Southeast Permanente Medical Group of Georgia.
A founding board member of the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine—which will prepare a new generation of physicians to influence positive change within the U.S. health care system—Dr. Ellison went to Duke University for undergrad, and the University of Virginia for medical school. An avid skier and traveler, he enjoys time with family, favors a plant-based diet and always takes the stairs.
