David Rivera
Dr. David P. Rivera is an associate professor of counselor education at Queens College-City University of New York where he directs the CUNY-wide LGBTQI Student Leadership Program. He holds degrees from Columbia University, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Wyoming. His research focuses on cultural competency development in therapeutic and organizational settings, with a focus on microaggressions. His work has been published in top journals and his co-edited book, Microaggression Theory: Influence and Implications, is slated for release in Fall 2018. Dr. Rivera holds leadership roles with The Steve Fund, the Council for Opportunity in Education, CLAGS: Center for LGBTQ Studies, the Society for the Psychological Study of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Issues, the National Multicultural Conference and Summit, and the American Psychological Association’s Committee for Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity.
